BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - This category honors an individual or group who has established a positive new commercial entity that enhances New York City's public appeal.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION(S) - This category honors an individual or group who has either established a noteworthy New York City charity or made a remarkable donation to a New York City charity.

COMMUNICATIONS - This category honors any person utilizing media who has done an outstanding job of communicating the grandeur of New York City to the rest of the world. This category would include authors, broadcasters, filmmakers, public office holders, etc.

CULTURAL CONTRIBUTION - This category will honor a person or organization who has made a significant cultural contribution to the city by accomplishing either or both of the following:

• Establishing a remarkable program or center for visual or performing arts
• Has succeeded in providing the public with access to the arts

EDUCATION - This category honors an individual or group who has made a noteworthy improvement in our educational system or provided greater access to education.

ENTERTAINMENT - This category honors an individual or group who has made NYC proud by bringing the public great joy via their means of artistic expression. Entertainers can be nominated from any field including publications, comedy, dance, film, music, television, theater, etc.

HEALTH & SCIENCE - This category honors any individual or group who has developed a medical or scientific breakthrough that benefits the public.

HEROISM/ACT OF BRAVERY - This category honors an individual or group who has put his/her own life in danger to help someone else.

HUMANITARIAN - This category honors an individual or group who has served as a devoted leader in promoting the welfare of other human beings.

SPORTS - This category honors an individual or group who has made NYC proud by bringing the public great joy via their means of athletic achievement. Athletes can be nominated from any recognized sport.

VOLUNTEERISM - This category honors an individual or group who has donated an extraordinary amount of time and effort to help the progress of a worthy cause.
