Any person submitting names (nominees) for possible
induction into the NYC Hall of Fame (a nominator) must be at least
18 years of age.
A nominator may nominate more than one person or organization
but a separate nomination form must be filled out and submitted for
each person or organization nominated (a "nominee"). A nominee
may only be nominated once in a calendar year.
The judges
will consist of Friends of the NYC Hall of Fame Board of Trustees
members and others who the board members determine meet their requirements.
From the finalists, 12 nominees will be chosen as the
final inductees. Inductees' names will be announced on the Web site
by the following spring season.
All decisions made by the NYC Hall of Fame judges will
be final, including decisions regarding interpretations of nomination
and induction terms and conditions, and other NYC Hall of Fame policies.
Neither Friends of the NYC Hall of Fame, employees,
volunteers, agents nor any family member will be eligible to participate
as nominators or nominees.
A nominee cannot subsequently reciprocate by nominating
his or her nominator.
NOMINATING YOURSELF IS NOT PERMITTED.
Nominees must have contributed to the betterment of
NYC and must have already received some kind of verifiable public
recognition for their good work. This includes awards of recognition,
awards of appreciation, awards of bravery, human interest stories
in the media, etc.
Nominees need not be 18 years or older. Nominees need
not be alive at the time of their nomination. Estate trustees of those
nominated posthumously must sign the sworn statement, consent and
release described below.
Friends of the NYC Hall of Fame reserve the right to
verify information contained in a nomination form and to disqualify
a Nominee whose information cannot be verified. Friends of the NYC
Hall of Fame also may require Nominees and Nominators (or if Nominee
is underage, his or her parent or legal guardian) to sign a sworn
statement before a notary public verifying such information and a
consent and release relating to publicity and liability. Failure to
sign any such required statement or release will result in disqualification.
As is sometimes the case due to the technological information
age we live in today, in the event an individual or organization is
inducted into the NYC Hall of Fame after being rigorously screened
and having signed a sworn affidavit, and is later determined to have
not met the original requirements, the individual or organization
may be removed from the NYC Hall of Fame if so determined by our panel
of judges.
